Maison Roc

The land forms a large, barren square. It appears large because the slope exposes it entirely. Except for an old walnut tree, nothing grows on it; the soil is too stony and steep.

How to build a small house there without it being an object that stands out on the slope? The answer was to fragment the building into several volumes that progressed vertically from the road. In order to back the house onto the site and exploit it more by spreading out over several levels.

The first volume is located almost at road level, so as to avoid a steep slope for access to the garage. The living rooms are installed higher up on this volume to enjoy a breathtaking view of the Sarce valley, the garage roof thus becomes a terrace.

This project wanted to preserve the natural orography of the land, the house had to, for us, look like a rock coming out of the ground. The concrete helped to give it this rocky character.
